Anthony DeMaio was sworn in as the Police Department’s 11th Deputy Chief in September of 2021. Deputy Chief DeMaio began his career at the Wallingford Police Department in April 1995 and during his tenure has served the agency in many capacities, including Patrol Officer, Narcotics Detective, General Investigative Detective, Community Policing Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Traffic Division Commander, and Deputy Chief.

Deputy Chief DeMaio is a 2006 United States Attorney’s Award recipient, has earned several Departmental Unit Citations, and received numerous letters of Commendation from both within, and outside the agency. Deputy Chief DeMaio is a graduate of the Roger Williams University Executive Development Command Training Series as well as the FBI-LEEDA Triology Program . He is a graduate of Guilford High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University where he majored in Business Administration.
